1. All six boats in our fleet (Indochina Sails 1, 2, 3, Indochina Sails Premium, Valentine and Valentine Premium) have life vests in every cabin (1 per guest, including children). Additionallife jackets for all guests are stored in public areas.
2. The boats are equipped with life buoys and life rafts with capacity for all guests and crew on board.
3. Each boat has a tender (also equipped with life jackets) to assist in any emergency or rescue operation.
4. All of our boats are under professional daily on-board technical supervision.
5. Our Captains possess long term experience and are extensively trained and fully licensed.
6. Our crews are fully trained with clear procedures as to how to deal with emergencies.
7. All guests are briefed and given safety procedures on board with clear instruction in case of emergency.
8. All boats are fitted with professional marine safety equipment: VHF, GPS, radar, walkie-talkies, water leakage alarm systems, water pump systems, fire alarm & fire extinguisher systems.
9. All boats undergo one-month extensive dry dock maintenance yearly and are fully checked by local marine registration authorities before and after leaving dry dock.
10. All boats are covered with maximum boat insurance and maximum passenger & crew insurance.

Ha Long Bay (also “Halong Bay”) is in northern Vietnam, 170 km east of Hanoi. The bay is famous for its scenic rock formations.
If you thought the hideout in the James Bond film “The Man with the Golden Gun” was spectacular, imagine a place where there are 3,000 such limestone islands clustered together in the East Sea of Halong Bay. Paddle through caves into secret lagoons, drift down channels surrounded by cliffs and forest and sail out into the open sea. Relax on the deck of our luxurious double-sailed junk and look forward to seafood bought straight from passing fishing craft. Swim alone amongst the limestone islets under the stars and take a breather at a floating village hidden amongst the islands. Our fiber glass sea kayaks make for satisfying travel, whether you are an Olympic champion or first time enthusiast.
Getting there
The best way to get to Ha Long Bay is to rent a car from Hanoi. It costs approximately US$100-US$120 return. There is also a tourist open bus service offered by travel agencies around the Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi. Cost is around US$8 net/person/way.
Public buses leave from Long Bien Station to the Bai Chay Station (other side of Red River, 5km from Hoan Kiem Lake) every 30 minutes from 6AM to 6PM and cost 50,000 dong/person each way. This is not recommended for foreign travelers, as these buses are often crowded, slow and unsafe.
The popular trail (starting from Hanoi)
Day 1: You leave Hanoi for Halong Bay at 8.30am with a short break for refreshment at a handicraft centre. Upon arrival in Halong City you will board a Chinese-style wooden boat (locals call it “Junk”) for a fine seafood lunch and a short cruise to one cave. After a short exploration of the cave you start the kayak exploration of the bay, paddling through an amazing area of limestone islets, passing a floating village to reach Luon Cave, which is a tunnel thrusting through a mountain. Paddling through the tunnel to explore a beautiful secluded lagoon. End of the first with dinner and overnight in AC, private junk’s cabin.
Day 2: This kayaking day starts from Van Chai Floating village and then continue paddling to Dark Cave. The cave is a 200m long, dark tunnel thrusting through a limestone mountain. The tunnel is the only entry to a secluded and beautiful lagoon. You can also explore some other caves nearby. After lunch you paddle to Ba Trai Dao Lagoon, along a stunning and fairly rough sea channel, to explore its beautiful beaches. Then continue paddling to Lan Ha Bay, which is smaller than Halong Bay but much more interesting with lots of secluded beaches.
Day 3: Breakfast is served on the junk and you will enjoy the sundeck while the Junk navigates amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay to get back to Halong City. Lunch on the junk before heading back to Hanoi by bus.
When to kayak
You can do kayaking on the bay all year around but great time is between October and June. A typical kayaking day starts at about 8.00 am after breakfast. Lunch will be served on support boat. At the end of a kayaking day, we would return to the junk by 5 pm or 5.30 pm.
Travel gears
Hard-cell, tandem kayak, paddle, life-jacket and dry bag are available on this tour. We recommend you to bring some extra gears such as Sun block, hat, anti-insect repellent, sunglasses, rain coat. The kayak tour with well-trained and experienced tour guide is always recommended for a best exploration.

Option 2 (Trekking in Cat Ba National Park – 3 hours): After breakfast, start cruising to Cat Ba National Park, passing floating fishing villages along the way. Trekking through remote Viet Hai Village on winding trail with limestone cliffs rising from ground beside, you will have a chance to discover the traditional life of local residents. Climb up to the peak of the mountain for a panorama view of Halong bay and Viet Hai valley, the heart of Cat Ba National Park, lunch in the village. Trek back to the boat and cruise to the Drum cave area for sunset. Dinner & overnight on board.
Option 3 (Sea Kayak Discovery): After breakfast, cruise south to the kayaking area where you will be given some primary paddling instruction by our expert on how to paddle safely and comfortably. The silence is almost eerie, you can hear the birds singing, cicadas chirping ashore and the gentle lapping of the waves against your boat, the perfect soundtrack to accompany the fresh and gentle breeze. Having breakfast at 08:00 and the boat continue cruising to Quan Lan island. Lunch on boat. We will be arriving at Quan Lan around 14:00, we will start cycling to explore the beautiful island, visiting an ancient temple and then onward to unspoilt beach of Minh Chau for swimming and sun bathing. Back to Quan Lan beach for swimming and tonight we will have BBQ dinner on the beach. Overnight on the boat.
Day 3: Quan Lan – Sen Hamlet – Cong Tay Island
Boat starts cruising to Sen Hamlet, cycling to explore Sen Hamlet. Lunch with local products in a traditional-ancient pillar house & relax. Getting back the boat at second wharf (4km) for cruising to Cong Tay island, swimming, have dinner and overnight on boat.
Day 4: Cong Tay Island – Halong
Enjoy the morning swim, and at 8:30am boat spread sails to run towards the wharfs through Bai Tu Long Bay. Have Brunch at 10:30am, check out, boat arrive at wharf at 12:00noon. Transfer back to Hanoi. End of services.

Ginger cruise 2 day 1 night Day 1: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Welcome on board
Leave Hanoi by private car/van at 8:30am arriving at the jetty around 12:30pm. Welcome on board of Halong Ginger and set sail through bay while lunch is served. Passage into the magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons’ teeth.
After lunch, take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay dotted with Halong Ginger golden sails, go swimming on a quite beach or sunbathing on the sundeck. Later afternoon, visit an interesting fishing village with opportunity to interact with fishmen who have been living in the bay for almost three generations.
At sunset time, kayak or symply take a bamboo row boat to discover a water tunnel with many coral reefs in a scenic lagoon. Back on board Halong Ginger , enjoy cocktails while watching sunset and later unwind at Ginger restaurant. Day 2: Halong Bay discovery
Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi exercise with an opportunity to view the sunrise over the bay. After breakfast, visit beautiful limestone grotto then back to the boat for a final glimpse of the Halong Bay while cruising back to the dock. Car is awaiting for you there and transfer you back to your hotel or residence in Hanoi. End of service

After breakfast, transfer to your day – trip boat with private crew and cruise to the bay’s most untouched areas. Enjoy swimming on quiet beaches, visiting water tunnels, fishing villages or kayaking. Lunch served on board by your private chef. Return to the mother boat for the night.
Day 3: Halong Bay – Hanoi
