Promoting to vote for Ha Long Bay

Voting for new 7 natural wonders of the world launched by New Open World  in August, 2007 will be closed on November 11, 2011.

The campaign to vote for Hạ Long Bay as a new world’s natural wonder has been actively responded by domestic and oversea communities.

In this final voting stage, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has just submitted a promoting plan to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

General Director of the VNAT, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan said this is a good chance to boost Ha Long Bay as well as the image of Vietnam tourism industry.

Promoting to vote for Ha Long Bay is considered a key task in 2011, therefore tourism sector should mobilize necessary resources to make the campaign successful.

In the coming time, many propaganda programs will be introduced widely throughmedia and communication to all levels in society and int’l friends to vote for Ha Long Bay.

Mr. Tuan urged related working groups to co-ordinate closely and actively in carrying out promoting activities, focusing on the final goal of voting for Ha Long Bay to be a new natural wonder of the world.

Quang Ninh welcomes nearly 2 million visitors in Q1

About 2 million tourists visited Quang Ninh in the first three months of 2011, reported the Department of Culture Sports and Tourism.

The number of foreign visitors is over 600,000, a 13 percent increase over the last year. Over 614 thousand travelers visit Hạ Long bay, up 7 percent compared to the same time in 2010.

The Province’s tourism turnover in the first quarter is estimated to reach VND 913 billion, showing a six percent increase compared to the same time last year.

Quang Ninh tourism sector has currently undertaken preparatory activities for the 2011 Ha Long Tourism Week which will be held from April 28 to May 2, 2011. The event will include various festive activities; especially the highlight of the festival will be a carnival at Bãi Cháy beach on May 1, featuring outdoor art performances, a street festival and a parade.

The event is expected to attract a huge number of tourists to Quang Ninh province.
